Yemenite Haroset


• ½ cup almonds
• ½ cup walnuts
• 8 ounces pitted dates
• ½ cup raisins
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
• ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
• pinch of fresh ground pepper
• 3 tablespoons sweet red wine or water


Chop nuts in a food processor to a powder. Remove nuts from processor then add dates and raisins until they are finely chopped. Combine nuts with chopped fruit in a bowl. Stir in spices. Gradually stir liquid to make a thick spread. Serve at room temperature or cold.
